In the table below, list at least two assignments you completed to address each of the five learning outcomes and discuss how they allowed you to meet the specified outcomes.

1. Read and listen critically and analytically, including identifying an argument’s major assumptions and assertions and evaluating its supporting evidence.Assignment 1 (Rhetorical Analysis Essay): I learned how to break down a writer’s message and figure out what strategies they were using. I also got better at spotting weak vs strong evidence.  Assignment 2 (Research Essay): I had to go through different sources and pick the ones that really helped my argument. It helped me learn how to tell what was useful and what wasn’t.
2. Write clearly and coherently in varied, academic formats (such as formal essays, research papers, and reports) using standard English and appropriate technology to critique and improve one’s own and others’ texts.Assignment 2 (Research Essay): Helped me write in a more formal and clear way using evidence.  Assignment 3 (Persuasive Genre Project): This helped me switch my tone depending on the genre and audience, which improved my overall writing style.
3. Demonstrate research skills using appropriate technology, including gathering, evaluating, and synthesizing primary and secondary sources.Assignment 2 (Research Essay): I used academic databases to find good sources. I learned how to search for quality info, break it down, and put it together with my own ideas.  Assignment 3 (Genre Project): I used research from Assignment 2 and built on it in creative ways to match my audience.


4. Support a thesis with well-reasoned arguments, and communicate persuasively across a variety of contexts, purposes, audiences, and media.Assignment 2 (Research Essay): I made an argument about how radiologic tech helps athletes and used sources to support it.  Assignment 3 (Persuasive Genre Project): I had to really think about who I was talking to and how to get their attention. That helped me improve my persuasive skills.
5. Formulate original ideas and relate them to the ideas of others by employing the conventions of ethical attribution and citation.Assignment 2 (Research Essay): I learned how to mix my own opinions with the info from sources and give credit properly.  Assignment 3 (Genre Project): I used creative ideas to present info from my research while still keeping the citations in mind.
